Unless I'm very much mistaken
in the lace embroidery
you can make out the famous emblem
of a noble company
and you could say
that this otherwise unremarkable
and long-neglected scrap
of English fabric
is a powerful reminder of the fact
that when she left she took the silver
from the family
and actually said (she really said!)
that if it all burns down
at least I'll have forks and knives.
